Giants lead Redskins 10-0 after 1st (AP) - 09-05-2008, 02:11 AM

Eli Manning scored on a 1-yard run and the New York Giants opened defense of their Super Bowl championship by scoring on their first four possessions in taking a 16-7 halftime lead over Washington in the NFL season opener Thursday night. Recently signed 44-year-old John Carney kicked field goals of 24, 25 and 47 yards for New York.
