Royals sign free agent RHP Kip Wells (AP) - 08-19-2008, 07:31 PM

The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent pitcher Kip Wells on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Wells started the season as the Colorado Rockies' opening day starter, but was eventually demoted to the bullpen. The Rockies designated Wells for assignment last week. The right-handed pitcher is 1-2 with a 5.27 ERA in 15 appearances.
